Birmingham sells retired pumper to Brighton for $1

Birmingham Fire & Rescue

Wednesday, Mayor William Bell and Birmingham Fire Chief Ivor Brooks presided over a ceremony to sell the City of Brighton one of Birmingham's retired pumpers for $1. The City of Birmingham, which has assisted Brighton with fighting fires over the years, decided to sell the engine to Brighton because of the great need for a front line piece of equipment.

Congratulations to the City of Brighton in the acquisition of such a nice piece of equipment.

A special thank you to Chief Mardis for sharing the following images from the ceremony at Drills and Training West...

I'm glad it could be put to good use. I've seen vintage trucks in parades that looked better than what Brighton has.

I saw it at the shop when they were working on it. It looked like it was old 31 before it became a reserve.

it was old 12, you can tell by the amount of smoke that pours out the exhaust when you give it gas!!!

This shows a considerable amount of honor on Birmingham's part compared to the memo hanigng on station 24's blackboard stating not to trust Brighton's equipment and to stay outside and protect the exposures. At least we're trying. This is a nice pumper for sure.

Old Engine 12 had a metal hose bed cover. I believe this is old E-21.

Well, they got a new station and now a newer apparatus Birmingham.... Does anyone believe this is going to make a difference....

It's not engine 12. It has diamond plate lids over the hose bed. That truck has a canvas cover. They already have engine 12.
