Actually, They CLAIM to be in Birmingham when the surrounding land is the City of Leeds, Which is understandable.

birmingham provides fire and ems services but the jefferson county sheriff's office patrols the road that rings the track. that road is a county road that is maintained by the county, not barber. how george barber pulled that off is beyond me. funny how they went out of their way to make sure leeds didn't have anything to do with them.

The property the track is on is actually city property that GB leased from Bham for $1 for 99 years. A majority of the surrounding land is US Steel. It was traded for Spain Park in Hoover.

So, during non racing days, and the Paddock or the Museum catches fire, what would be the first alarm assignments? Engine 31 and Engine 26? That would be a long haul.

About the first in response if there is a fire...I work for Leeds I have run a couple of calls out there during non race days to the museum. I believe that the employees of Barbers may actually call both Leeds and Birmingham making Leeds the first in. But there is a lot of controversy there.

It is a mess, actually Cahaba Valley's Rex Lake station is only a few miles down the road and is closest, who knows whose it truly is.
