2-Alarm Apartment Fire - Part 2
Birmingham Fire & Rescue
Birmingham Fire & Rescue responded to a 2-alarm apartment fire, last Wednesday, at the Emerald Parc [sic] Apartments on Birmingham's Eastside. Upon arrival, Engine 30 reported apartments with fire showing.
A great job by the firefighters from Birmingham put an end to the 2-alarm blaze.
A special thank you to David for sharing these amazing pictures!

Where in huffman are these apartments at?
I dont know but I hope that bicycle is at the thrift store.
I already have dibs on the bike!
I say we fix up the bike and give it to the kid for their birthday that was cancelled due to Engine 30 great firefighting skills.
Why, in the first attack, did they use a small handline? Fire that big calls for big handlines and monitors. Like a 2 1/2" or 3" attack line, rather than a 1 1/2" or a
1 3/4"?
The apartments are located on Earline Circle, off of Springville Road.
I am not a firefighter so I don't know the answers to all the firefighting questions. I will say however they only used the hand line for a few minutes before they used the deck gun (if that is what it is still called). The deck gun did a quick job of knocking down the majority of the flames.
I hope all of you have enjoyed the pictures.
They def should have used a 3 inch line or deluge gun, more than likely would have kept it to one alarm instead of two. Like what has already been said, Big Fire, Big Water!!!!
Even though, sadly enough.. BFRS has the statewide reputation of "surround and drown"..It doesn't appear that much more burned at the end of the fire than in the beginning. Good job guys
Please tell me mr "surround and drown"would you go in that building?I don't know what deparment you work for but I think with the exception of not using a 3 inch or a blitz nozel they did the right thing!!
at least the fire was cantained. i can think of a few fires inother cities that could have been saved if only they knew how to attack a fire.
