Brighton Warehouse : Multiple Alarm

Birmingham Fire & Rescue
Brighton Fire Department
Lipscomb Fire Department

Thursday night, Birmingham, Brighton and Lipscomb Fire Departments responded to a large commercial fire at an auto dismantlers warehouse on Bessemer Super Highway.

Upon arrival, Birmingham struck a 2nd alarm.

A lot of hard work was put into bringing the large blaze under control. The fire, which erupted around 9:30 p.m., was declared under control about 11 p.m. Firefighters remained on the scene throughout the night to watch for possible rekindles.

Great work!

A former employee has been arrested in connection with the fire that destroyed the building. The exact cause is being investigated.

A special thank you to Captain Mardis for providing these fantastic photos from the scene.

"Live Burn" Film Saturday

Birmingham Sidewalk Film Festival

A firefighter from the Birmingham area has made a short film which will be shown at this weekend's Birmingham Sidewalk Film Festival. The film will be shown Saturday, September 23rd, at 1:30pm at the Alabama Theater.

For ticket information, visit http://www.sidewalkfest.com/2006/films.html

From the creator:

I made a motion picture documentary about a LIVE BURN that took place last year in Harpersville, Al with Rocky Ridge Fire Department while volunteering with them. I had an original score composed and recorded by my good friend Steve Lewis that includes musical performances from members of the Red Mountain Chamber and Alabama Symphony Orchestras. Very nice soundtrack!! Overall this is an inspirational work with some wonderful footage of a fully involved house fire. I dedicated the film to the ES Community of the Birmingham Jefferson County Metro Area.

Below is a video capture from the film...

Center Point Apartment Fire

Center Point Fire Department

I stopped by Center Point Fire Department to take a few pictures of their new Station 1. Before I could go inside, they were dispatched to an apartment fire on Parkbrook Trail.

Upon arrival, Engine 1 reported a working fire and laid two lines.

According to complex security, only one unit was involved. The extremely fast and hard work of Center Point Firefighters stopped the fire in it's tracks and prevented it from spreading to other apartments.

Great work!
